Well if you can’t be a captain in the Russian Navy a software developer is the next best thing right? Jenya brings a unique perspective to the company. Let’s take a five minute break and get to know a little more about him.
Hi Jenya. Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Yes, I grew up and spent most of my life in Sevastopol, Russia. Sevastopol is on the Black Sea and home to a naval base. In 2009 I came to the United States to attend the University of Massachusetts where I earned a BS degree in Information Technology. I now live in the Cincinnati area. My wife Terrie and I have two children Branden (3) and Vincent (1.5). I spend most of my time outside of work with my family.
When you were younger what did you want to be when you grew up?
Initially, I wanted to pursue a military carrier, probably because my dad was Captain in the Russian Navy. However, after four years in the army I decided that a military life wasn’t for me. Because I was interested in computers, I decided to switch career paths. Today I work in IT and really enjoy it.
You recently became a US citizen. What was that experience like?
It was a great experience and a very nice ceremony. I’m excited and proud to be a citizen of the United States.
What are your responsibilities at QC Software?
As a member of our development team, I’m responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting of our software.
I imagine that you’ve had some interesting experiences in your worldly travels. Are there any that stand out in particular?
In particular I liked my trip to Warsaw, Poland. The area is home to a very impressive medieval royal castle. Also I liked my trip to Las Vegas. All of the hotels, casinos, and sites were very entertaining.
